Be In the Present

Are you good at being in the present moment (even the hard moments or seasons) and gleaning what can be beneficial from the experience? Or, do you pine for time lost with regret and sorrow? Do you get anxiety thinking of all the things not yet happened to the point of overwhelm?

Benefits of Being In the Present

The benefits of being in the present are numerous! Enjoying the people, places and moments right where you are makes everyone enjoy the moment more. Making memories with those you love can bring comfort and calm. Also, being in the present is peaceful. When you can intentionally focus on the moment where you are and focus on who you are with, a contentment abides with you, too.

Pitfalls of not Being In the Present

There are many pitfalls to watch for. Thinking of times past leads to sorrow and regret and steals moments away from the ones you love or the places you are right in front of you. Thinking ahead to what you need to do heaps anxiety and overwhelm into your mind which also steals away moments you could be having with loved ones and places. It is only when we start to think back or forward and take our mind off the present that we start to drown.

What To Do?

Tell yourself no amount of regret, sorrow or guilt will change the past. So, you can plan better for the future so you have no regrets when the future becomes the past.
